Kristian and Mette Line live an ordinary life with their two children in their dream house in Lyngby. They have their separate careers and lots of goals and ambitions for the future. But one day 39 year old Kristian suffers from a blood clot in the throat.

While Kristian is rehabilitating and attended by doctors and neurologist, Mette Line is struggling to recognize the man she married. Even though Kristian is functioning in some areas, the damage has changed his personality. After a year the doctors have no hope of development. The film follows the family in the tough months after the accident and towards the decisive date. The 1. of February is the day Kristian had his blood clot. It is also the day Mette Line, a year later, has to make one of the toughest decisions of her life.
